Hello Tuxedo Tennis Club Members!

Things are well underway here at the club for another wonderful season of tennis. The weather has been beautiful and I look forward to seeing everyone out at the courts. We have several exciting events and programs lined up for the next few weeks:

• Friday June 30th is Family Night here at the club from 6:00 – 9:00 pm. It will be a fun-filled evening of tennis. You and a family member can take on other families in fun doubles matches. We will be holding family nights most Fridays throughout the summer so if you are unable to make it this week I hope to see you out later in the summer.

• Saturday, July 1st we will be having a Canada Day celebration at the club from 12:00-4:00pm. We will be playing a fun round-robin and having a BBQ. Be sure to wear red & white and bring your Canadian spirit!

• Our next Team Tennis session will be starting on Wednesday, July 12th. There is a competitive and recreational section and they will alternate each week between 6:30-8:00pm and 8:00-9:30pm. The program will cost $5 per member and the money will be used to purchase prizes for the top 4 participants in each section. If you are interested in this program please feel free to call the staff to let us know or sign up on the registration form when you are down at the club. We are also always looking for spares for this program. If you can’t make it out every week but would still like to play, let us know and we will put your name on the spare list.

• The next tournament we will be hosting here at the club is the Tuxedo Open from July 23rd-30th. We anticipate a very exciting event again this season. If you are interested in volunteering some time to help us out during the tournament please give us a call and let us know. The Tuxedo Junior Open in May was a great success thanks to our many wonderful volunteers.

• Also, just a reminder that our annual Summer Children’s Tennis Camps will begin Monday, July 3rd. They will run from 8:30am-4:00pm Monday to Friday. They will be using courts 5&6 during the mornings and courts 1-4 during the afternoons. The other courts will still be available for member use during these times. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.

Countdown to 2006 Rogers Cup Sweepstakes In just a couple weeks one lucky ticket holder will win a trip for two to the 2006 Rogers Cup in Toronto, featuring the top men’s players in the world. The Grand Prize includes round trip airfare, 2 nights at the Hilton and tickets to the semi-finals on August 12th and final on August 13th. The draw will be held on Sunday, July 16th at the Arby’s Manitoba Open which takes place at the Kildonan Tennis Club. Get your tickets now as early bird draws are happening at local tournaments. Jan Taylor, a Tuxedo Tennis Club member, is one of the initial early bird prize winners. Jan won a Wilson racquet bag at the Deer Lodge Classic on June 18th. The proceeds from tickets sold at Tuxedo Tennis Club for the 2006 Rogers Cup Sweepstakes go towards improvements at our club and tennis development in Manitoba. Help support our club and contribute to the growth of tennis at the grassroots level.
