Tuxedo Tennis Club
– Year End Update
Annual General Meeting
We have set the date,
and on Sunday November 26, 2006 at 2:00 pm we will be having
our AGM at the Tuxedo Lawn Bowling Club (located right beside
our club). We will have refreshments and an update from
our board on the events of the past year, and the plans
in place for some future improvements at your club. If you
are interested in joining the TTC board, or know of someone

Tournament Summary
We hosted several
successful tournaments this year, including the
Tuxedo Open, the
Tuxedo Junior Open (sponsored by Haber Suzuki, thank
you so much) and the Prairie Regional Qualifiers. All the
tournaments were well received and very well run, thank
you to all our volunteers and organizers for some excellent
effort.
Tennis Manitoba Fund Raising Banquet
Tuxedo Tennis Club
purchased a table at the
2006 Tennis Manitoba Awards Banquet. This was a great
success for the tennis community in Manitoba. I would encourage
others to attend this event next year to connect with others
in the city. Two of our long standing members were honoured
for long time service to our club. Elaine Thompson and Phil
Spevack received volunteer awards thanking them for their
contributions. Thank you both so much for making our club
a great place to be.

Grounds Report
Thanks to
all the club members who helped out this season.
We had able bodied crews guided by the setup guru
Phil Spevack, putting up nets, screens and generally
cleaning up in the spring. On October 15th we took
it all down and put the club to bed. Thanks to Brian
Wilding for the loan of his pressure washer to clean
the courts and to the staff who spent numerous hours
spraying (it seemed like it would only take 45 minutes).

Over
the winter we will have the ball machine
checked out and a few of our nets and screens
repaired or replaced. We are making plans
to deal with our current light standards
and court surface repairs. Also on the improvements
list is a rebounder type practice net to
make the practice area more useable.
