June 2008
Tuxedo Tennis Clubhouse Update
Well we are making some progress on this wonderful
project!! On June 4 the City of Winnipeg approved
our plans to remove our existing clubhouse and replace
it with a newer model!!
Plans are for our clubhouse to be taken down on
June 27, and then the following 2 weeks there will
be lots of construction going on as we sink piles,
have a foundation built and get things ready. Those
who have been at the club will note we have cleaned
out the old clubhouse and started to prepare for
this. We have a temporary building rented to act
as the clubhouse during this process.
Our patience will then be tested as we wait for
the foundation to cure, and then towards the end
of July we will have the new structure moved onto
our property. While this structure has washroom
facilities and plumbing, we won’t be able to use
those until we get sewer and water connected. We
have funding for this but we are still in the preliminary
phases of getting this sorted out. Hopefully later
this summer or early fall we’ll have running water
and plumbing!
Your patience is appreciated while we go through
this process.
What can you do?
We will be looking for donations of lounging furniture,
tables and chairs for sitting at for post match
analysis, as well as hopefully enjoying a beverage
or two. Those that are so inclined are welcome to
give their input into what our new space will look
like as we work to improve our club. We are taking
on some debt for this project so those interested
in contributing, there are opportunities to obtain
charitable donations for your generosity. Please
let any member of the board know what you could
do to help, or if you have any questions.
On behalf of the board,

Bailey
Earns Two Titles at Tuxedo Junior Open
(Tennis Manitoba) – Sean Bailey
left no doubt that he is the top junior player in
the province, claiming the U18 Boys Singles Championship

a win in the U18 Boys Doubles final, teaming up
with Muzeen Ismath to defeat Igal Mostkov and Saul
Shrom 6-4, 6-4.
The Waschuk sisters continued their stellar play,
winning three of the four girl’s singles events
on the weekend. Evann took home the U16 Girls Singles
title with a 6-2, 6-3 win over Jessica Silva and
beat Clarissa Chen 6-0, 6-0 to win the U18 Girls
